DEEP CREEK ~ NEW HOMES

Deep Creek grew from being a stop for barges carrying lumber along the Dismal Swamp Canal. The rich history of the region began when George Washington himself took note of the area and completed surveys at the Dismal Swamp in hopes of joining Virginia waterways with the Pasquotank River and Albemarle Sound in North Carolina. Washington’s survey firm constructed a 5 mile ditch from the swamp to Lake Drummond, it is the oldest operating artificial waterway in the United States.
