This weekend and on Monday, January 17th, there will be celebrations and observances held honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Here are a few unique ways to mark the day with family activities, acts of service, and celebrations (both live and virtual) that we all can enjoy.

Black Business Shopping Saturday Pop-Up Shop
In honor of Dr. King, this pop-up will highlight local black businesses in the heart of Virginia Beach. Enjoy 30 vendors, dance demonstrations, food, music, and lots of networking!

The Urban League of Hampton Roads presents this community leader’s virtual event with Keynote Speaker Pharrell Williams. The program will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recognize dedicated leaders in our community. FREE, register here.

Martin Luther King Jr. Millennial Journey To Justice
This observance is hosted by the NAACP and Real Vikings Vote and will be held at the K.E. White Graduate Center parking park on the Elizabeth City State University campus. Guest speaker is Danielle Brown. Music provided by DJ Wrecker and DJ 307. Refreshments will be served at 10:30am, and lunch tickets will be provided at the end of the program.

Come together for the common good, so that the Buckroe Beach area and surrounding communities can flourish. The goal is to renovate several spaces for Workforce Development Training and utilization by local non-profits.
