Our Autumn Colonial Apple Tansey Recipe
Our Autumn Colonial Apple Tansey Recipe
Nothing is more appropriate here than a colonial dessert recipe made with apples of the season. We are surrounded by many orchards and delicious apples. This Apple Tansey recipe has been popular since colonial times, and was extremely popular with colonial Virginians. It features fuji apples and remains a favorite today.
This is a perfect recipe for the grand finale of any of your Autumn dinners. It first appeared in The Compleat Housewife: or, Accomplished Gentlewoman’s Companion, which was printed in London in 1739 and became the first cookbook to be printed in the United States in Virginia in 1742.
