Clever Ikea Hacks From Their 2021 Catalog

Clever Ikea Hacks From Their 2021 Catalog

Along with this year’s catalog, IKEA releases great new products, design ideas, and fantastic hacks. These hacks are smart ways to save space, money, and time… and maybe all three! We will include links to the products used in hopes that you will be inspired to ‘hack’ away!

Oversized Artwork As Headboard | Adding extra height to headboards lends a lot of drama
to the room. This hack features easy to create wood frames with IKEA’s black and white SKUGGBRÄCKA and warm brown AINA fabric stapled from the back. The fabric is under
$10 a yard, so this look can be had for around $30. The cost offers low commitment to allow updates when the mood strikes you.

Small, Space-friendly Desk | The teeny MICKE desk and equally teeny NILSERIK stool
can be hidden inside a closet/wardrobe to create a smart, space-saving solution. And, you
can close the door on your work when you are done.

Book Storage That Makes a Statement | Turn your books into art by stacking them high on small shelves. No need for a bookcase. This hack was created by cutting the TRANHULT shelf down to the desired size and mounting the pieces onto SIBBHULT brackets. The photograph shows natural wood and white brackets, but the shelves could easily be finished with a dramatic paint color. Be sure to purchase paint made for plastic for best results on the brackets.

Bed Frame/Room Divider | One of the easiest hacks. Simply take the MALM bed and flip
it so the headboard becomes the footboard to create a sense of privacy in your bed area.

Slim Nightstand | Install the SVENSHULT shelf on its side to create this ultra-slim nightstand
to hold your clock and books. This space-saving idea does not take up any unneeded floor space. How cool is that?

Organize The Entryway | These KUNGSFORS rails with ‘S’ hooks are usually found in
the Kitchen. Here they are used to organize and tidy up an entryway, an area that is prone
to clutter. If you have small children, you can install a lower rail for their hats, coats, and backpacks.

Wall-mounted Desk | The EKBY ALEX shelf with doors becomes a shallow desk space.
Hang it at desk height, and it’s ready to go.

Added Kitchen Storage | Add the NISSAFORS rolling cart to increase your storage space.
If you paint it the same color as your cabinets it will give the illusion that it is part of them.
Plus, it can double as a beverage or serving cart when you are entertaining.

We hope you liked these IKEA hacks. Let us know if you try any, or have others that have worked for you. It is great that Hampton Roads has an IKEA now, don’t ya think? We’re heading over for decorating ideas and meatballs… see you there.
